Michael wasn’t a stranger to organ donation. At just 9 years old, his father passed away while waiting for a transplant. That experience made registering as a donor at the age of 16 a no-brainer.

Tragically, 10 years after his dad passed, Michael would lose his life in a tragic Christmas Eve automobile crash.

“After his death was declared, I immediately knew that Michael would want to help others by being an organ donor,” said his mother, Vivian. “It was just the right thing to do. Michael would not have wanted anyone else to suffer the loss of a loved one the way he had. He was a firm believer in second chances, and that’s exactly what he gave.”

Through the gift of organ and tissue donation, Michael saved and healed five lives. His decision to register as a donor gave five families more time with their loved ones when time was running out.

“Michael always wanted to travel and see the world,” said Vivian. “Now, every day, Michael gets to see and experience incredible places and people, living through the lives he saved, and I am incredibly proud of him.”
